Milka Seka Tokić grew up in Croatia and absorbed the warmth and beauty of the sunny Adriatic Coast, as well as a good mix of rock, ethnic, and classical music she was surrounded by. Which one she likes the best is a tough question. Her early musical memories include singing with her mother, listening to The Beatles “I Wanna Hold Your Hand” on an old scratched 45 record, and starting piano lessons at the age of 7. In 1980 she moved to Washington D.C. area where she studied music and started playing keyboards in local rock and jazz bands. Currently Milka teaches general and vocal music, and world music drumming classes in Montgomery County Public Schools. She also gives piano and music theory lessons at Keynote Studio, a private piano studio that she opened up eighteen years ago in Takoma Park, Maryland. To stay out of trouble she plays keys and sings backup in rock bands like Due Process.
